One day, a Hyena 🐆 wronged a Lion 🦁 and ran away. The Lion set out in search of the Hyena, trying his very best, but he could not catch her. They crossed paths many times, but the Hyena never got caught, because she was an exceptionally swift runner. When the Lion ran out of ideas, he became certain that without a trick, the Hyena would never be caught.
The Lion and the Hyena
So the Lion devised a plan. He went and caught a Goat. 🐐 The Goat began to cry and bleat, saying, "Lion, what wrong have I done to you? Please, let me go!" The Lion replied, "You have done nothing wrong to me, and I am not going to do anything to you. What I want is to hide up in this tree! There, the Hyena is coming. When she arrives, all I want you to do is insult her—that is how I hope to catch her."
So the Goat calmed down and sat at the foot of the tree, while the Lion hid behind it.
Soon, the Hyena came dashing toward the tree, but she did not notice the Goat sitting at its base. She was about to pass by when the Goat shouted, "HEY, HYENA, YOU ARE A COWARD!!!" The Hyena turned back and said, "Goat, are you insulting me?" The Goat replied, "Yes, you have been insulted—so do whatever you will!"
The Hyena became furious and charged at the Goat, ready to tear her apart in anger. But then she stopped and thought to herself, "Wait a minute! For the Goat to insult me like this in broad daylight is no small matter! Surely she must have stepped on something, or else something is set up." So the Hyena simply shook her head and went on her way—even breaking into a run.
