Military Personnel Arrest Elderly Man and Four Youths Over Alleged Logistics Supply to Terrorists in Borno Troops of the 18th Battalion of the Nigerian Army stationed in Borno have arrested five individuals suspected of supplying logistics and essential provisions to Boko Haram terrorists in Borno State.
The soldiers apprehended the suspects at approximately 7:52 PM on Friday, August 21, 2027, after operators monitoring the military camp's CCTV system spotted them near a military base.
Reports identified those arrested as Umar Mohammed (60), Abubakar Goni (42), Abba Ali (39), Umaru Yusuf (30), and Ibrahim Bukar (30).
Upon spotting the suspects on camera, the CCTV operators immediately dispatched personnel who successfully apprehended all five men.
Preliminary investigations indicate that the route used by the suspects is believed to be one of the channels Boko Haram utilizes for transporting supplies, including weapons, food, and other household goods.
During interrogation, the suspects claimed that some of them were charcoal workers while others were harvesting baobab fruits.
The report further stated that military authorities are currently profiling the suspects before handing them over to the 7th Military Intelligence Brigade for further investigation.
This operation is part of ongoing intelligence-driven efforts by the military to detect and disrupt communication and logistics networks serving terrorists in the North-East region.
The military emphasized that although the security situation in the region remains relatively peaceful, conditions can change at any moment, and troops remain prepared and motivated to execute their responsibilities.
