Taiwan Monitors Unprovoked Chinese Combat Patrol Near Island

Taiwan has reported that it is closely monitoring a Chinese military combat patrol near the island, describing the move as “unprovoked” and part of ongoing pressure from Beijing.

According to Taiwanese defense officials, Chinese aircraft and naval vessels were detected operating around Taiwan’s air and maritime zones, prompting a rapid response from Taiwan’s armed forces to track the movements and maintain readiness.

The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Taiwan and China, with Beijing continuing to assert its claim over the self-governed island and regularly conducting military drills in the surrounding region.

Taiwan’s defense ministry said it deployed surveillance systems and aircraft to monitor the situation, stressing that its forces remain prepared to respond to any escalation.

China has not issued a detailed response to the latest report, but it has consistently stated in the past that its military activities near Taiwan are aimed at safeguarding national sovereignty and deterring what it calls “separatist forces.”

The development adds to growing concerns among regional and global powers about stability in the Taiwan Strait, a key international shipping route and one of the world’s most sensitive geopolitical flashpoints.
