The bodies of three siblings, including 11-year-old twins and their five-year-old younger sister, were found on a farm near the Owena Military Barracks in Ondo State.
The siblings are Joshua Jonah and Jacob Jonah, who are twins and both 11 years old, and their younger sister, Blessing Jonah, aged five.
The spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, Abayomi Jimoh, said the incident occurred after the children had accompanied their father, Samuel Jonah, to the farm on Friday, and later left the place to return home.
Jimoh said the children's father became worried after he returned home and found that they had not come back, which led to a search being conducted to locate them.
He added that the bodies of the three children were discovered on Saturday, September 5, at the edge of a small stream within the farm.
The police said they have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of the children's deaths.
The state Commissioner of Police, Felix Ohagwu, has ordered a thorough investigation into the incident to uncover all details surrounding the children's deaths.
Ohagwu condoled with the bereaved family, assuring them that the police command will do everything possible to uncover the truth of what happened.
