Iyake Lake is one of the seven natural wonders of Nigeria. There are rumors that the lake has no bottom and that it swallows anyone who attempts to measure its depth. It is also believed that there is another world beneath the lake, ruled by a female deity.

History
Iyake Lake was discovered by refugees from Dahomey in the year 1500 AD. These Dahomey refugees are the present-day chiefs who hold the Alado chieftaincy of Ado-Awaye. There are many myths surrounding Iyake Lake (Suspended Lake) and Ado-Awaye Hill. One such myth is that Iyake Lake is a woman who never gave birth, turned into water, and now rules over another world beneath the lake. It is also believed that if you are facing spiritual problems or seeking childbirth, praying to the lake's waters will provide a solution.
A tour guide said the lake is bottomless, and swimming or entering it is forbidden, because historically, anyone who swam in it would not survive.
Ado-Awaye Hill has become a heritage site and a unifying center for all. The people celebrate the Oodua festival there every year.
The journey from Ibadan to Ado Hill takes about 90 minutes by car. You must climb Ado Hill to reach the lake—a 25-minute walk.
