At least eight people were wounded in Israeli attacks on southern Lebanon, despite ongoing diplomatic talks in Rome aimed at reducing tensions between Israel and armed groups operating across the border.
According to Lebanese officials, the strikes targeted areas in southern Lebanon, injuring several people and causing damage to property. Emergency teams responded to the affected locations and transported the wounded to nearby hospitals.
The attacks came as international mediators and diplomats met in Rome in an effort to prevent further escalation and revive negotiations for a lasting ceasefire. However, the latest violence has raised concerns about the prospects for a diplomatic breakthrough.
The Israeli military said its operations targeted what it described as militant positions and were carried out in response to security threats. Lebanese authorities and local officials, however, condemned the strikes, saying they endangered civilians and heightened regional tensions.
The renewed exchange of hostilities underscores the fragile security situation along the Israel–Lebanon border, where periodic clashes continue despite international efforts to restore stability and prevent the conflict from widening.
