Funds Have Been Sent To The ADC Presidential Candidate In The Name Of Campaign Support

The ADC presidential candidate and former Vice President, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, has expressed concern over large sums of money that were deposited into one of his private accounts without his authorization.

It was reported that unspecified large sums of money were deposited into one of Atiku Abubakar’s private savings accounts. In a statement released today, Friday, by his aide on media affairs, Phrank Shaibu, the statement said an unknown person sent the money with the note: "Contribution Electioneering Campaign" as the reason for the transfer.

Atiku stated that he did not solicit it, and none of his staff solicited any form of donation. The presidential candidate openly expressed his concern over how the details of his bank accounts were leaked, to the point that someone was able to deposit something into them without his approval. He further said that if the private details of a former Vice President’s account can get into the hands of others without permission, then it shows that the financial details of Nigerians are in danger and at risk.

The former Vice President alleged that perhaps people with access to confidential information leaked it to serve a personal interest. He also warned that this could expose account holders to the risk of kidnappers, terrorists, bandits, fraudsters, and other criminals.

He said the matter has already been reported to security agencies, and that the public has also been informed of the situation to prevent political mischief. He also appealed that this should not be used to create division between his supporters and the 2027 election plans.
