On Sunday evening, the Commander of the bandits in the forest, Idi A Ba Su Aiki from the Bakori area, invited his fellow commander Iliya Mai Rasha who has been terrorizing the Tsafe areas of Zamfara State. He also invited other bandits to come and take revenge in the Guga area of Bakori Local Government in Katsina State.
It was confirmed that more than 300 bandits riding on motorcycles at least over 100 of them heavily armed stormed the town.
Residents of the area said the incident happened around 5:30 PM on Sunday, when they entered and started shooting indiscriminately.
With the help of God, the local vigilantes in the town and the joint C-Watch members tried to repel the attack by exchanging gunfire with the bandits.
While this battle was ongoing, additional soldiers from Mabai and police officers from Bakori arrived, and they continued to decimate the bandits right there in Dawan La'ila village.
After a fierce exchange of gunfire, the bandits began to retreat to save their lives from being wiped out. In the process they ran away and abandoned 2 boxes loaded with ammunition.
In this clash, more than 40 bandits were killed, including the Tsafe Commander Iliya Mai Rasha and other commanders. Guns and motorcycles were also seized from the bandits.
However, the bandits also caused six casualties among the security forces. They killed a local vigilante named Babawo Ibrahim, who was later given an Islamic burial. They also killed 5 other vigilantes.
May Allah forgive them all, and may He bring an end to this calamity.
