Security Issues and The Renovation of Major Drainage Channel of 'Yan Bita Are The Key Messages From The People of Jikamshi To His Excellency The Governor of Katsina State

COMMUNITY VOICE HEARING MEETING OF THE CDP HELD IN JIKAMSHI WARD FOR THE INCLUSION OF REQUESTS IN THE 2027 KATSINA STATE BUDGET

A Community Development Programme, CDP, community voice hearing meeting was held at the main field of Pilot Primary School in Jikamshi town, Musawa Local Government Area.

The purpose of the meeting was to gather the requests presented by the community and forward them to His Excellency the Governor of Katsina State for inclusion in the 2027 Katsina State Government budget.

During the meeting, the people of Jikamshi conveyed messages of gratitude to His Excellency the Governor of Katsina State, Dr. Dikko Umaru Radda, PhD, for the developmental and welfare projects his government is implementing, especially in Jikamshi town and other parts of the state.

The Accountant General of Katsina State, Malam Nura Tela, who was represented by Alhaji Auwalu Shu’aibu Tela, delivered the vote of thanks on behalf of the community. In his speech, he listed some of the projects the government has achieved in the town. He also called for continued prioritization of women in government programs, and commended their resilience and support for the APC party.

In his remarks, Alhaji Aminu Badaru Jikamshi explained to the community how the government carries out its activities. He reminded them that we are still in the year 2026, with six months remaining. He added that he is confident that every request presented by the people of Jikamshi will, Insha Allah, be successfully met.

Also speaking, Professor Babangida Ladan expressed his joy and delivered a message of gratitude to His Excellency the Governor of Katsina State for the major projects he has executed in our blessed town. He further reiterated requests for projects they had asked for in the previous year, noting that although there is still time left, they are making an early reminder.

The Professor further highlighted the requests of the people of Jikamshi town. He said: "We are asking for assistance to construct a water dam for us, so that the people of Jikamshi can benefit from dry-season farming to sustain themselves. He also called on the government to create more job opportunities for youths, especially considering that God has blessed the town with educated youths.

Finally, he made another appeal to the government of Malam Dikko Umar Radda to assist with a major drainage channel located in the Yan Bita area which is close to collapse from inside all the way to the roadside. The Professor appealed for help to come and repair this drainage for them.

This drainage is located near the old motor park and close to the old market. It is a major drainage that runs through the neighborhoods. The drainage starts from the roadside down to the town’s main stream. However, for the past three or four years the drainage has been blocked, causing erosion on its sides, and it keeps getting deeper. Some houses near it have already had parts of them washed away by it. In short, the people of this neighborhood live in fear, especially whenever the rainy season approaches. Therefore, we are calling for assistance to repair this drainage for us.

On another note, the common people also voiced their concerns, especially regarding the security situation in the local government, with some using the slogan: "We are greatly troubled by the security problem."
