The Governor of Kano State, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf, has commended the Tijaniyyah order for organizing a special prayer session to seek lasting peace and the economic development of Nigeria.
This is contained in a statement issued by the Governor's spokesperson, Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, on Saturday.
Governor Yusuf made the commendation following the conclusion of the annual zikr gathering and special prayers for Nigeria, which was held at the Emir of Kano's Palace on Friday.
He stated that the prayer came at an opportune time, noting that leaders at every level require divine guidance to protect the lives and property of citizens, as well as to implement development projects that benefit the public.
Addressing the thousands of attendees, the Governor said he had informed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu about the prayer event, and the President expressed his delight with the initiative. He added that President Tinubu had intended to attend the event in person, but was prevented by an urgent official engagement.
Governor Yusuf assured the organizers that the Kano State government would continue to provide support for such religious gatherings in the future.
He also thanked the family of Sheikh Ibrahim Nyass, who came from Senegal to attend the event, along with other prominent Islamic scholars from various parts of Nigeria.
In his remarks, the Emir of Kano, Muhammadu Sanusi II, assured Governor Yusuf of the full support of the Tijaniyyah order and pledged to continue praying for the success of his administration.
The Emir stated that members of the order have been praying for Governor Yusuf since 2022, and will continue to do so because of his efforts to develop Kano State and Nigeria as a whole.
The prayer session lasted over six hours before concluding with supplications for peace, unity, and national development.
