Floodings From Tropical Storm Maysak Kills 39 in Southern China

At least 39 people have died after severe flooding triggered by Tropical Storm Maysak swept across southern China. Torrential rain caused rivers to overflow, leading to widespread flooding and landslides that destroyed homes, damaged roads, and submerged farmland.

Chinese authorities said thousands of residents have been evacuated from affected areas to safer locations, while emergency response teams continue search-and-rescue operations and deliver relief supplies to communities cut off by the floods. Transportation has also been disrupted, with several highways and railway lines temporarily closed due to flood damage.

Weather officials reported that Tropical Storm Maysak brought exceptionally heavy rainfall in a short period, causing water levels in rivers and reservoirs to rise rapidly. Some regions recorded their highest rainfall in years, worsening the impact of the disaster.

The Chinese government has deployed military personnel and emergency responders to assist rescue efforts and assess the extent of the damage. Authorities have also warned that more heavy rain is expected in parts of southern China and urged residents in high-risk areas to remain alert and follow evacuation instructions if necessary.
