Reports indicate that the United States has launched a series of what it described as powerful military strikes against Iran following attacks on three commercial oil tankers in the Strait of Hormuz.
The U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) said the operation was intended to send a clear message to Tehran that attacks on commercial shipping in one of the world's most strategic waterways would not be tolerated.
In response, Iran strongly condemned the U.S. military action, describing it as a violation of the mutual understanding agreement the two countries signed last month.
Iran's Deputy Foreign Minister warned that Tehran would take firm and decisive measures in retaliation for the strikes.
