Iran Should Not Possess Nuclear Weapons

The White House has stated that President Trump and his Chinese counterpart, Xi — who are meeting in Beijing — have agreed that Iran should not possess nuclear weapons and that the Strait of Hormuz must remain open.

A U.S. statement regarding the two-hour meeting said there was mutual understanding between them, and that both leaders are working to enhance their economic ties. However, the statement did not mention one of the contentious issues between them — Taiwan.

Mr. Xi said the U.S. and China should become "partners, not adversaries," but warned that disagreements could arise over the issue of Taiwan.
