As reported by Facebook news pages, the famous Nigerian musician who is prominent in the Afrobeat genre has embraced Islam—a development that has sparked debate among some communities across the country.
Damini Ebunoluwa Ogulu (Burna Boy) was born in Port Harcourt State, Nigeria in 1991. His rise to fame began in 2012 when he released his song "Like To Party," which circulated widely throughout the Afrobeat music world. Ogulu became more deeply involved in the music industry, especially after returning from England, where he had studied when he was around 20 years old.
Ogulu received strong support from his mother in his musical endeavors, and she later became his manager in the field. Ogulu explained that he has long been interested in Islam, and stated that he always used to research the religion, which ultimately led him to decide to convert from Christianity to Islam.
