The statement by US President Donald Trump that he would take military action against Nigeria based on his administration's allegation that Christians are being massacred is very unfortunate. First of all, the US has no proof for this accusation it is making, because there is no place where Christians have been massacred as they claim.
We should not wake up one day and simply accept that a country will attack us over an issue that barely exists. In my view, this US stance is a violation of our country's sovereign rights and is something we should not tolerate.
Therefore, I call on the authorities in Abuja to stand firm in resisting this injustice the US is trying to perpetrate, and to continue to vigorously take measures to address the security challenges facing our country, which affect everyone, not just Christians."
