Some retired soldiers in Nigeria have complained about what they called the preferential and luxury treatment given to the nation's top military chiefs after retirement, while junior officers continue to suffer neglect and non-payment of their benefits despite years of service to the nation.
The retired soldiers made this complaint following the announcement of the items to be given to the outgoing Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, along with the Chief of Army Staff, Air Marshal Hassan Abubakar, and the Chief of Naval Staff, Vice Admiral Emmanuel Ogalla, as retirement gifts.
Reports indicate that each of the retired top military officers will receive one armored luxury vehicle, which will be maintained and replaced with a new one every four years, as well as a Prado or similar model of luxury vehicle.
