Israel has announced that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu made a phone call from the White House, apologizing to Qatar’s Prime Minister, Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, for the recent strike in Doha which killed a Qatari security officer and violated the country’s sovereignty.

In his remarks, Netanyahu admitted that the operation, which targeted Hamas leaders meeting in Qatar, was a mistake and stressed that Israel had no intention of undermining Qatar’s authority. He assured that such an incident would not happen again on Qatari soil.

The move comes after protests across Arab nations condemning the strike as an insult to Qatar’s sovereignty, while also drawing concern from the U.S. and other international allies. Analysts suggest the apology could be seen as an effort to ease tensions between Israel and Arab states, particularly Qatar.

However, diplomatic experts warn that mere words of apology may not be enough unless backed by concrete actions ensuring such violations will not be repeated. Qatar, they argue, will likely demand stronger guarantees of respect for its sovereignty before restoring confidence.
