The Quraysh tribe is the most noble and esteemed of all the Arab tribes. The name of this tribe is traced back to the tenth forefather of the Messenger of Allah (PBUH), named Quraysh—who is better known as Fihr ibn Malik. And any Arab whose lineage does not trace back through Fihr ibn Malik is not a Qurayshi.
The Quraysh tribe played a significant role in the life of the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), as it was the tribe that led the people of Mecca before the advent of Islam.
Surah 106 of the Noble Qur'an is named "Quraysh." This surah comprises four verses and is the thirtieth surah in the Qur'anic order. "Quraysh," which is a Meccan surah, was the twenty-ninth surah revealed to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH).
Many scholars of Qur'anic exegesis consider this surah to be a continuation of the preceding surah, "The Elephant" (Al-Fil). Surah Al-Fil speaks of the threat posed by enemies and their attempt to destroy the Ka'aba, whereas in this surah, the peace and security that the Quraysh tribe enjoyed in Mecca are mentioned.
