The National Economic Council (NEC) Implementation Monitoring Committee has concluded a facility tour of Katsina State as part of its fifth-phase nationwide monitoring exercise, receiving praise from the state government for its objective evaluation of ongoing developmental projects.
Receiving the delegation in Katsina, Governor Dikko Umaru Radda showcased the progress recorded under his administration’s "Building Your Future" agenda, attributing key milestones to strong synergy with the Federal Government and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s "Renewed Hope Agenda."
Detailing the state's achievements across critical sectors, Governor Radda highlighted major strides in agricultural transformation, healthcare expansion, and renewable energy deployment aimed at driving grassroots development.
Agri-Mechanisation and Economic Growth
To boost food security and local productivity, the state government has operationalized an Agricultural Mechanisation Centre equipped with over 400 tractors.
"In agriculture, our Agricultural Mechanisation Centre, equipped with more than 400 tractors, is helping us expand mechanised farming and improve productivity," Radda said, adding that the state is concurrently executing targeted fertiliser interventions and a Community Development Programme to empower rural farmers.
Healthcare Upgrade and Renewable Energy Expansion
The Governor also reported significant strides in public health infrastructure, disclosing that over 250 out of the state’s 361 primary healthcare facilities have been fully renovated, alongside the establishment and upgrading of several General Hospitals across Katsina.
Addressing energy security and operational sustainability, the state has deployed over 30 megawatts of renewable energy across public institutions. The solar power systems and mini-grids are integrated into hospitals, schools, and water treatment facilities to cut reliance on diesel and lower running costs.
Federal Collaboration and Accountability
The NEC delegation commended the state’s agricultural mechanisation drive and primary healthcare interventions following site visits and interactions with local beneficiaries.
Reiterating his support for external evaluation, Governor Radda emphasized that monitoring exercises are vital for good governance.
"We welcome constructive monitoring and evaluation because it strengthens accountability, improves collaboration between the Federal and State Governments, and helps us identify areas where more needs to be done," the Governor stated.
He reaffirmed his administration's commitment to delivering high-impact projects across road infrastructure, urban renewal, education, digital transformation, and public service reforms to ensure long-term prosperity for all residents of Katsina State.
