Nigerian Army troops have repelled an attack attempt by suspected terrorists in Rumirigo, Askira-Uba Local Government Area of Borno State.
TheCable newspaper reported that the incident occurred at approximately 11:10 PM on August 29, 2026, as confirmed by security sources.
Reports indicate that troops of the 115th Battalion of the Nigerian Army, in coordination with members of the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF), were lying in ambush in the area when they encountered the terrorists.
Sources said the soldiers responded with gunfire, which forced the terrorists to retreat in disarray.
After the troops combed the area, they recovered one rifle and seven rounds of 9mm ammunition.
The report stated that the items were recovered and handed over to the 115th Battalion for further appropriate action.
However, it was noted that the security situation in the Northeast region continues to remain relatively stable, although the threat posed by terrorists could change tactics at any time.
