Iran’s Judiciary Chief, Gholamhossein Mohseni-Ejei, has reaffirmed his country’s commitment to strengthening its relations with China, saying Tehran’s determination to expand bilateral ties is firm and will not change.
Ejei made the remarks during a visit to India, where he attended a meeting of the heads of judicial authorities from member states of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO).
During a meeting with China’s Chief Justice, Ejei said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran’s determination to expand its relations with China is firm and will not change.”
He added that the world is undergoing a transition towards a new global order, stressing that the People’s Republic of China is playing an important role in shaping that emerging system.
According to Ejei, last year’s meeting of the heads of judicial authorities of SCO member states was originally scheduled to take place in Iran. However, the venue was later changed following the outbreak of war between Iran on one side and the United States and Israel on the other.
Ejei’s comments highlight Tehran’s continued interest in deepening its strategic relationship with Beijing at a time of significant changes in the global political order.
