The special committee of the House of Representatives investigating a bogus agency known as the Presidential Foreign Intervention Promotion Council (PFIPC) has stated that there is no evidence indicating that Femi Gbajabiamila, the Chief of Staff to the President, was involved in the establishment or management of the agency.
The committee chairman, Yusuf Gagdi, made this known in the committee's preliminary report released in Abuja.
The committee stated that a letter used to appoint Adeniyi Adeyemi as the Director-General of the PFIPC was forged, and was neither signed nor issued by Gbajabiamila.
The report also noted that Gbajabiamila had alerted security agencies upon receiving reports of the alleged fraudulent activities of the agency, including the police, DSS, EFCC, and the Office of the National Security Adviser.
The committee found that the PFIPC did not derive a legal basis from any Act of the National Assembly, executive order, or any other valid legal framework. However, the agency was accused of using fake documents to obtain certain government privileges, including office space and other amenities.
The committee also recommended further investigation into certain financial transactions the agency is alleged to have conducted.
Gagdi emphasized that the report released is preliminary and does not represent the final report or the position of the House of Representatives.
