APC Inaugurates 1,235-Member Campaign Committee in Lagos.
The Lagos State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has inaugurated a 1,235-member campaign committee ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The party also directed all its candidates seeking political office under its platform to remain in Nigeria until the conclusion of the general elections.
Party leadership issued the directive on Friday during the committee’s inauguration at the state APC secretariat in Ikeja.
The APC governorship candidate for Lagos State, Dr. Kadri Obafemi Hamzat, urged party members to openly showcase the achievements of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s administration and the Lagos APC government to the public.
Hamzat stated that party members should not hesitate to campaign, emphasizing that they should be proud of the party's candidates while actively defending its policies and overall accomplishments.
He added that the APC in Lagos aims to secure at least 3.5 million votes out of the state's registered voting population of nearly 7.5 million.
In his remarks, the Lagos State APC Chairman, Hon. Cornelius Ojelabi, stated that the campaign committee comprises 20 directorates. It includes former governors, former deputy governors, former local government chairmen, and elected party officials.
Furthermore, Ojelabi charged committee members to stay law-abiding and respect party hierarchy to ensure an effective, well-organized campaign.
The chairman reiterated that APC candidates must fully commit to campaign activities, noting that no candidate is permitted to travel out of Nigeria until after the 2027 general elections.
He also urged members to conduct peaceful campaigns centered on policy issues rather than resorting to insults, violence, or conflict.
The Director-General of the Lagos APC Campaign Committee, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, urged members to put aside past grievances and work in unity to guarantee the party's success in 2027.
Ogunleye noted that Hamzat's experience and character would help sustain ongoing development projects in the state, calling on committee members to remain focused on executing a successful campaign.
