Yemeni forces say they have repelled an attack by Houthi fighters in Taiz, as tensions and fighting continue to escalate in parts of the country.
According to the forces, Houthi fighters attempted to attack positions held by government-aligned forces in Taiz, but the assault was pushed back after clashes. The fighting reportedly caused casualties, although details remain unclear.
Taiz has long been one of Yemen's major flashpoints in the conflict between the Iran-aligned Houthi movement and forces supporting Yemen's internationally recognised government. Despite periods of relative calm, fighting and attacks continue to occur in several parts of the country.
