Despite all the criticism and insults that followed the fuel subsidy removal by President Tinubu at the very beginning of his administration. Today, the Chairman of the Nigeria Revenue Service (NRS), Zacch Adedeji, stated that: The decision to remove fuel subsidy by the APC government under the leadership of Bola Ahmad Tinubu is the best thing that has happened to Nigeria in the President’s three years in office. He added that President Tinubu deserves commendation for that step, considering the effort he made to endure criticism and insults while taking that decision.
Zacch Adedeji made this known during an interview on Channels TV. He said the economic growth the government is experiencing now stems from the subsidy removal. He said the fuel subsidy system had long been damaging Nigeria’s economy, and described it as an unsustainable system.
Adedeji further said that President Tinubu is not a wasteful person, because he only eats once a day, and walks to the office for work. The spokesperson added that President Tinubu has barely flown by plane during this period because of his focus and concern for the country’s economy.
