Former Kwara State Governor and National Secretary of the opposition party, the African Democratic Congress (ADC), Rauf Aregbesola, has made a statement that caught public attention. He said that since he married his wife, Sherifat, he has never had marital relations with any other woman.
The party secretary made this known during a campaign event organized by the ADC in Ejigbo Local Government Area of Osun State, ahead of the Osun State governorship election scheduled for Saturday, 15th August 2026.
The former Governor made the statement in Yoruba language before the crowd of people who attended the gathering, as a way of showing his strong commitment, integrity, and adherence to his faith.
Aregbesola added that although it is rare for men to make such a declaration, he did so as part of his devotion and a vow he made to God. He also expressed his hope that his party would win the upcoming Osun election, saying he looks forward to celebrating the victory at Government House next June.
