Former Nigerian President Olusegun Obasanjo has congratulated Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke on his re-election as governor, urging him to continue providing good governance.
Obasanjo made the call on Monday during a congratulatory visit to Adeleke at his residence in Ede town.
The governor's spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, disclosed this in a statement issued in Osogbo.
The former president also offered prayers for Adeleke's continued success, urging him to remain committed to improving the lives of the people and delivering democratic dividends.
"Continue to provide good governance and keep meeting the needs of your people," Obasanjo said.
In his response, Adeleke thanked God and the people of Osun, pledging to continue serving the state's residents with honesty and trustworthiness.
He said, "Baba, I thank you for this unexpected visit. I promise never to disappoint God, the people of Osun, and all democracy lovers who helped ensure this victory."
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) declared Adeleke the winner of the election held on Saturday, after he secured 511,067 votes.
The APC candidate, Bola Oyebamiji, came second with 444,815 votes, while the African Democratic Congress (ADC) candidate, Najeem Salaam, finished third with 17,180 votes.
