Former Vice President and presidential candidate of the ADC, Atiku Abubakar, has expressed concern over certain funds that were deposited into one of his personal accounts without his knowledge or consent.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Phrank Shaibu, on Friday, it was reported that an unknown individual transferred the money with the description: "Contribution Electioneering Campaign."
Atiku stated that neither he nor his campaign team requested or approved this payment, adding that the incident raises questions about how his personal account details—which are not publicly disclosed—were obtained.
He further noted that if the private account information of a former vice president can fall into the hands of others without authorization, it indicates that the financial privacy of Nigerians is at risk.
Atiku alleged that the breach may have been carried out by individuals with access to confidential data, warning that such exposure could put account holders at risk from kidnappers, terrorists, bandits, and fraudsters.
He said security agencies and the public have been informed about the matter, describing it as one of the disturbing incidents ahead of the 2027 elections. He also urged Nigerians not to allow such distractions to divert their attention from his political agenda.
