The new Hausa translation of Sahih al-Bukhari, rendered from Arabic and authored by Alhaji Ahmad Zarrouq Idris Kabara, has been officially launched.
The book launch event took place on Sunday, August 16, 2026, and was attended by scholars, academics, and members of the public.
Delivering his address at the event, Professor Matabuli Shehu Kabara explained how the translation project was inherited from the late Shehu Nasiru Kabara, and highlighted the esteem and significance that this book held for Shehu Nasiru Kabara.
Professor Umar Sani Fagge also gave a speech, in which he commended the work carried out. He remarked that translating Sahih al-Bukhari into Hausa (in the Latin script) is no small feat, especially considering the contributions made by scholars toward the dissemination of knowledge.
The author of the book, Alhaji Ahmad Zarrouq Idris Kabara, gave a detailed account of how he acquired his knowledge of Sahih al-Bukhari from Shehu Nasiru Kabara. He stated that when counting the chain of scholars from Imam Bukhari to himself, there are 23 individuals in between.
He also revealed that he presented his studies before Shehu Nasiru Kabara as early as 1996.
In his own speech, the father of the gathering and the African Leader of the Qadiriyya Sufi Order, Sheikh Qaribullahi Sheikh Nasiru Kabara, highly praised this monumental achievement.
Sheikh Qaribullahi further stated that scholars should remain integrated within the community and do everything possible to contribute to societal development and the spread of knowledge.
