In a video clip posted on his page, Atiku Abubakar reiterated his stance on the issue of the fuel subsidy, stating, "I stand by my word, and I will not change: I will bring it back!"
Ever since the Nigerian presidential candidate of the ADC party, Atiku Abubakar, expressed his views on bringing back the fuel subsidy, politicians, especially those in power, have been left restless and unsettled.
Today, Tuesday, when Atiku hosted the ADC party in Abuja, he reiterated his determination, pointing out that: "A resourceful country like Nigeria should not leave its citizens in hardship. Nigeria is a wealthy country that can take care of its citizens."
He added, "In my view, the wealth of a nation is not measured by the amount of money the government receives; it is measured by the purchasing power and the money in the hands of the common people."
Atiku Abubakar stated, "I want salaries to regain their value. I want farmers to be able to take their farm produce to the market without high transportation costs eating up their profits. I want families to be able to fill their food baskets without spending all the money in their pockets. I want business owners to have the opportunity to produce goods, hire workers, and grow their businesses. That is why I will bring back the fuel subsidy designed to help the masses."
Atiku continued, "If the price of fuel goes up, the cost of transportation also goes up. If transportation is expensive, food prices increase. If food is expensive, families are the ones who suffer. Therefore, I will put an end to this terrible situation that has plagued the lives of Nigerians for nearly four years of Tinubu's administration.
"I will support the production of goods in Nigeria and reduce energy costs. I will not bring back the fuel importation system that creates opportunities for corruption; what I will bring back is ease and relief for the people. I reiterated this stance of mine on Tuesday when I received the leaders of the ADC party from Osun State in Abuja."
Finally, Atiku concluded with some promises, saying, "I will ensure that the Naira regains its value, daily life becomes easier, and security and peace of mind are provided for the citizens of the country. Economic security. Security of lives and properties. And an improved standard of living for every Nigerian. This is the Nigeria that I aspire to build with you."
