The Kano State Pilgrims Welfare Board has announced the commencement of registration for the 2027 Hajj pilgrimage, setting Naira 8 million as the initial deposit for intending pilgrims.
The Board's Director General, Alhaji Abubakar Ibrahim Matawalle, made this known at a press conference held at the board's headquarters on Sunday.
He stated that the amount was set after consultations and thorough analysis, adding that a fair and structured payment plan has been put in place.
Matawalle explained that all payments are to be made via bank draft, which should then be submitted to officials of the Local Government Hajj centres across the state.
He also warned intending pilgrims to follow only the channels approved by the Kano State Government and to avoid dealing with unauthorized persons.
According to him, the sale of Hajj seats and collection of registration fees will begin from July 12, 2026, and registration will close on September 26, 2026.
The Director General urged intending pilgrims to register and pay promptly to avoid a last-minute rush and to enable the board to adequately prepare for the Hajj exercise.
He also thanked the Kano State Governor for his continued support to the board and pilgrims, while commending scholars, stakeholders, and the people of Kano State for their cooperation and trust in the board.
Finally, Matawalle prayed that Allah accepts the intentions of all those planning to perform Hajj, grants them the ability to perform an accepted pilgrimage, and brings them back home safely.
