Hunger Is Falling but Remains Higher Than Pre-COVID Levels: UN Report

A new United Nations (UN) report says that global hunger is continuing to decline, but it remains significantly higher than it was before the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the report, although progress has been made in improving food production and supporting economic recovery in some countries, millions of people around the world still face food insecurity and lack access to nutritious food.

The UN attributes the persistence of hunger to a combination of armed conflicts, climate change, rising food prices, and ongoing economic challenges affecting many nations.

The report urges governments and international organizations to increase investment in agriculture, strengthen food systems, and expand support for vulnerable communities most at risk of hunger.

Experts warn that without stronger and more coordinated action, the world is unlikely to achieve its goal of ending hunger in the coming years.
