Praise and Applause Are Due to Northerners for Rarara, Because Davido Marginalized the North and Showed the World That Only Southerners Are the People (Who Matter) in Nigeria, Say Commentators.
Analysts and observers of daily affairs in Nigeria have stated that Rarara fully deserves praise and high applause for his criticism of Davido regarding his portrayal of Nigeria's security situation to the world. This is because Davido, who drew global attention to the problem, showed privilege and sympathy only for the kidnapped schoolchildren in the Southern region.
"Although communities have long been killed in the North, and people have been abducted, with students and young children being kidnapped for a long time in Borno, Zamfara, Kebbi, Sokoto, and other states, Davido showed no concern for them until his Southern brothers were affected," they said.
The commentators further added that if Davido had not taken a partisan stance in what he brought to the world's attention, he would have included the names of students and people held by kidnappers in the North, or shown some sign that would highlight the North's plight.
Furthermore, according to them, if one re-examines Rarara's statements regarding his accusation that people help terrorists via Social Media by publicizing their activities, it will be understood that his words contain nothing but the plain truth.
Indeed, many times kidnappers do not even know who they have captured, but the way the Media picks it up, spreading images and revealing the status of the kidnapped person in the North, only emboldens the terrorists. This even leads to stronger groups going to take possession of the kidnapped victim, just as Rarara said happened in the case of his own mother.
Another problem is that sometimes the strength of the terrorists is insufficient, but when people exaggerate their activities on Social Media, they see it. This boosts their prestige and preparedness, while also causing panic among the rest of the populace, increasing fear in the hearts of citizens.
Therefore, in our understanding, Rarara has done a highly commendable thing by coming out to alert the public to the harmful effects of publicizing abductions. If it were not for the use of Social Media to show terrorists the status of their captives in society, perhaps there wouldn't be so much difficulty in rescuing them, negotiating ransoms, or receiving them back. Perhaps some terrorists might even release them on their own when they see no one is paying attention to them. However, the excessive publicity only makes them continue to hold onto the person and even go on to kidnap more people.
"Truly, Rarara has done a praiseworthy thing; we praise him and applaud him. We also call on the people of the North to stand by him and encourage him for this monumental effort he has made. Because he has shown the world that not only Southerners are people; the North also has a voice," said the commentators.
