The military in Nigeria has rescued 360 abducted people following clashes with fighters from Boko Haram in Borno State.
According to reports, security forces launched operations in areas suspected to be used as militant hideouts, leading to intense fighting between troops and insurgents.
Military officials said the rescued victims included women, children, and men who had allegedly been kidnapped from different communities in the region.
The freed abductees were reportedly taken to medical and humanitarian centers for treatment, screening, and support after spending days or months in captivity.
Security authorities also said several Boko Haram fighters were killed during the clashes, while others fled into nearby forests and remote areas.
Borno has been heavily affected by insurgency and militant violence for years, with attacks causing thousands of deaths and displacing millions of people across northeastern Nigeria.
The government of Nigeria says it is continuing military operations aimed at defeating insurgent groups and restoring stability in the region.
Security analysts note that despite periodic military successes, armed groups continue to carry out attacks and kidnappings in remote areas with limited security presence.
