FG Warns Nigerians Not to Travel Abroad Without Valid Passports and Visas

The Federal Government of Nigeria has warned citizens against leaving the country without valid international passports, visas, and other necessary travel documents.

Government officials said the warning became necessary due to the increasing number of Nigerians facing detention, deportation, and legal difficulties in foreign countries because of irregular migration and incomplete travel documentation.

Authorities advised Nigerians planning to travel abroad to ensure that all their documents are genuine, valid, and approved by the appropriate immigration authorities before departure.

The government also cautioned citizens against using illegal migration routes or relying on human traffickers and unauthorized travel agents who promise overseas opportunities without proper procedures.

According to officials, many Nigerians stranded in foreign countries often face exploitation, arrest, poor living conditions, or denial of entry because they travel without meeting immigration requirements.

The Federal Government urged travelers to follow legal migration processes and to verify visa and passport information through official immigration offices and embassies.

The warning forms part of ongoing efforts by Nigerian authorities to reduce illegal migration, protect citizens abroad, and improve the country’s international image regarding migration and border control issues.
