According to reports, the strike hit a house in the Bureij refugee camp in central Gaza, where Wishah was present. At least two people were reported killed in the attack, while several others were injured.

Al Jazeera condemned the killing, describing it as a violation of international law and part of what it says is a continuing pattern of attacks on journalists in Gaza. The network stated that Wishah was the twelfth Al Jazeera journalist killed in Gaza since the start of the war in 2023.

The incident occurred amid ongoing Israeli military operations in Gaza, where continued airstrikes and ground operations have resulted in significant civilian casualties and widespread destruction.

The death of Ahmed Wishah has drawn renewed concern from press freedom organizations, media groups, and human rights advocates, who have called for greater protection for journalists working in conflict zones.

The case has once again highlighted the dangers faced by reporters and media workers covering armed conflicts, particularly in areas experiencing intense military activity.
