A 38-year-old man has died after being attacked by a great white shark in Western Australia, authorities confirmed. The incident has shocked local residents and tourists in the area.
According to reports, the attack happened on Saturday morning near Rottnest Island, a popular tourist destination located off the coast of Perth. The man was reportedly spearfishing with friends when the shark attacked him.
Emergency responders rushed to the scene and brought the victim back to shore, where paramedics attempted to save his life. However, despite their efforts, he later died from his injuries.
Officials said a large great white shark, estimated to be around five meters long, had been sighted in the area shortly before the attack. Authorities have since warned people to exercise caution while entering the water around nearby beaches and coastal areas.
The incident is one of several deadly shark attacks recorded in Australia this year, as authorities continue monitoring coastal waters to improve safety for swimmers, surfers, and tourists.
