At least 16 students have died after a devastating fire broke out in the dormitories of a girls’ school in Kenya, authorities have confirmed.
Officials said the fire spread rapidly through the sleeping quarters, trapping students inside as it engulfed parts of the building during the night. Emergency responders were deployed to the scene, but many of the victims could not be rescued in time.
Several other students were injured and rushed to nearby hospitals for treatment, while rescue teams continued searching the affected buildings for possible survivors.
The cause of the fire has not yet been officially determined, but Kenyan authorities have launched an investigation to establish what triggered the deadly incident.
