Authorities in Sweden have confirmed that a Russian drone was intercepted near a French aircraft carrier operating in the region, raising fresh concerns over security and military activity in European waters.
According to officials, the unmanned aerial vehicle was detected flying close to the carrier before being tracked and intercepted. The vessel involved is believed to be the French aircraft carrier Charles de Gaulle, which has been participating in naval operations and exercises.
The incident comes amid heightened tensions between Russia and Western nations, particularly over military deployments and surveillance activities in and around Europe.
Swedish defence authorities said the situation was handled without further escalation, but analysts note that such encounters underscore the fragile security environment in the region.
