The director-general of the National Centre for Technology Management (NACETEM), Dr Olushola Odusanya, has said the centre is at the forefront of Nigeria’s Artificial Intelligence (AI) policy drive, ensuring the nation is well-positioned for the global digital future.
He said Nigeria’s future will not be written in the language of problems, but in the language of solutions powered by innovation. In an interactive session with journalists, Odusanya who announced major reforms transforming the agency into a leading force in Nigeria’s science, technology and innovation (STI) space, said, “We are leading Nigeria’s Artificial Intelligence policy dialogues to ensure our nation is future-ready.”
He said NACETEM has digitised its operations, including staff promotion exercises, cutting costs, ending unnecessary travel and boosting transparency.
While noting challenges such as funding and infrastructure gaps, he highlighted stronger partnerships with universities, research institutes, industry and government, as well as expanded postgraduate and professional training programmes to build the nation’s STI capacity.
According to him, such collaborations would open doors for joint research initiatives, specialised training programmes and technology-driven reforms that would strengthen institutions and improve governance.
