His full name is Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi (OFR). He was born on June 29, 1927, corresponding to 1 Muharram 1346H, in an area now known as Gombe/Bauchi (Konkiyel – Darazo, and originally his mother was from Nafada, Gombe). He is a Fulani man from the region of the old Bauchi State.
EDUCATION AND STUDIES
He began his Qur'anic studies with his father, Alhaji Usman, and memorized the Qur'an as a child.

His father was a Muqaddam (spiritual representative) in the Tijaniyya order, and he also inherited this Sufi path.
HIS STATUS IN ISLAM
He is among the major leaders of the Tijaniyya Order in Nigeria and is referred to as a senior leader of the Tijaniyya in Nigeria.
He follows the Maliki school of jurisprudence and is a Sufi (Tijaniyya). He is also a member and the Deputy Chairman of the Fatwa Committee of the Nigerian Supreme Council for Islamic Affairs (NSCIA).
· He is renowned for his Tafsir (Qur'anic exegesis) in the Hausa language, especially during Ramadan, which is broadcast on radio, TV, and social media.
· He travels extensively for preaching across various states on topics of Tawhid (Islamic monotheism), worship, peace, and moral uprightness.
· His Tafsir is considered the "Tafsir of Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi," one of the most famous Hausa Tafsirs in Northern Nigeria.
Sheikh Dahiru Bauchi is a major follower of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse (Kaolack, Senegal). He married into the family of Sheikh Niasse; it is reported he married a daughter of Sheikh Ibrahim Niasse in a wedding ceremony held at Sheikh Niasse's mosque in Senegal.
CHALLENGES AND TRIALS
In 2014, a bomb attack was carried out on his convoy in Kaduna while he was traveling after a preaching session. He survived, but many people died.
There have been occasional doctrinal disputes between him and other da'wah groups, but he remains steadfast on the path of peace and calling people to the Qur'an and Sunna. He was an elder statesman blessed with long life by God; he lived to be over 100 years old. He mentioned in an interview that he had more than 60-70 children and many grandchildren.
