Zamfara SWAp Desk Officer, WHO Team Supervise Integrated Vaccination Exercise In Tsafe

The Zamfara State Ministry of Health, in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO), has intensified efforts toward eradicating vaccine-preventable diseases through a comprehensive integrated vaccination exercise currently ongoing across the state.

According to a statement signed by Suleiman Isah, ANIPR, Information and Public Relations Officer, Ministry of Health, Zamfara State, the SWAp Desk Officer of the Ministry, Dr. Abdullahi Wanzamai, led a WHO team on a supervisory visit to the Yandoton Tsafe and Langalanga Fixed Posts in Tsafe Local Government Area to assess the progress of the exercise.

The campaign integrates Measles Rubella (MR), Human Papilloma Virus (HPV), Polio, and Routine Immunization (RI) interventions, targeting various age groups: children aged 0–59 months for polio, 0–23 months for routine immunization, 9 months–14 years for MR, and 9-year-old girls for HPV vaccination.

Dr. Wanzamai expressed satisfaction with the level of turnout and the dedication of health workers, noting that a significant number of children had already received their vaccines. He emphasized that the integrated exercise is aimed at strengthening population immunity and accelerating progress toward the elimination of vaccine-preventable diseases in the state.

He commended the WHO team, health workers, and the newly incorporated National Health Fellows and Performance and Financial Management Officers for their contributions to the campaign, noting that their involvement would help bridge human resource gaps in the health sector.
