Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari Has Assured Of Sustained Efforts Towards Enhancing Academic Activities Across The Country

 The Chairman of the Board of Trustees (BOT) of the Tertiary Education Trust Fund (TETFund), Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari, CFR, has assured of sustained efforts towards enhancing academic activities across the country.

The former Governor of Katsina State gave the assurance in his welcome address on Wednesday, 9th October 2025, at the Stakeholders' Engagement Forum held at the A-Class Conference Hall in Abuja, the nation's capital.

Rt. Hon. Aminu Bello Masari stated that TETFund would achieve this goal by strengthening the monitoring of the Fund's disbursements, and enhancing research by experts in agriculture, health, science, and modern technology.

Furthermore, partnerships and collaboration with major industries and international development organizations will be enhanced.

The Chairman stated that "providing quality education requires the contribution of the society, especially experts, companies, Civil Society Organizations (CSOs), and other patriotic members of the society."

"This is the reason for convening this engagement, to garner more recommendations and public support for the actualization of TETFund's objectives in the country."

Additionally, he delivered a comprehensive speech on the efforts of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu's administration to provide a conducive environment and adequate funding to ensure that Nigerian students receive quality education in the nation's tertiary institutions.

Finally, he cited examples of massive infrastructure projects and the training of academic and non-academic staff, coupled with the provision of quality training equipment, research and laboratories.

He affirmed the commitment to promoting research in renewable energy sectors, as well as in science and modern technology.

In his own address, the Executive Secretary of TETFund, Arc. Sonny S.T. Echono, commended the support given to the Fund by President Tinubu, and assured that more projects would be embarked upon, including the provision of power and student hostels in universities and colleges across the country.

According to Echono, "The government of President Bola Tinubu is playing a key role in ensuring the sustainability of TETFund. We will continue to improve the teaching and learning environment while ensuring that all beneficiary institutions gain from the Fund's interventions."

Similarly, in his address, the Chairman of the Senate Committee on Tertiary Institutions and TETFund, Senator Muntari Dandutse, assured that the Senate, under the leadership of Senator Godswill Akpabio, would continue to support TETFund for sustainable development.

Also, the Chairman of the House of Representatives Committee on TETFund and Other Services, Hajiya Princess Miriam Onuoha, thanked President Tinubu for removing the clause that sought to end TETFund in the new tax bill, stating that it was a sign of the government's full support for educational development in Nigeria.

Earlier, the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Senator George Akume, represented by Mr. Olusegun Adekunle, Permanent Secretary in his office, commended the role of TETFund in educational development and assured that the government would continue to offer its support.

Likewise, the representative of the Minister of Information, the Director-General of the Federal Radio Corporation of Nigeria (FRCN), assured that his Ministry would continue to collaborate with TETFund in publicizing and promoting the achievements of the Fund across the country.

The forum brought together senior government officials, heads of tertiary institutions, legislators, academics, and other stakeholders, emphasizing the collective resolve to further enhance the tertiary education system in Nigeria.
