Many people face problems when they are about to sleep or while sleeping. Others do not have any problems until after they wake up. One can wake up with extreme fatigue after sleeping. If you are facing such a problem, here are some of the reasons causing it:
1. Lack of Deep Sleep (Deep Sleep Deprivation): If you wake up frequently at night, your body does not enter the "deep stage" of sleep where the body and brain are repaired. This can cause extreme fatigue after waking up and prevents hormones like melatonin and growth hormone from working properly. You end up waking up without energy.
2. Eating Heavy Meals Before Sleep: Eating heavy and spicy foods before sleep prevents your stomach from resting. It causes acid reflux and prevents restful sleep. Try to reduce food intake at least two hours before sleep.
3. Stress and Anxiety (Mental Stress): Anxiety reduces the oxygen supply to the brain during sleep, which can make you wake up in the morning feeling as if you haven't slept. Try praying to clear your worries before going to bed.
4. Consuming Caffeine Close to Bedtime: Coffee, energy drinks, or soft drinks before sleep prevent deep sleep. Avoid caffeine after 4:00 PM.
5. Low Blood Levels or Iron Deficiency: If your blood level is low, your body does not get enough oxygen, which causes you to feel tired every morning. Check your blood levels (PCV, Hb) and eat iron-rich foods such as spinach, eggs, and fish.
6. Dehydration: If you do not drink enough water, blood does not flow properly during sleep, which will lead to headaches, fatigue, and lack of energy in the morning.
7. Hormonal Problems (Thyroid or Cortisol Imbalance): People with thyroid and cortisol disorders sleep but wake up tired. Get a thyroid function test if you frequently experience this.
Sleep is a vital need and a form of rest for the human brain and body. One can visit a doctor for tests if they are experiencing problems during sleep or after waking up.
