Katsina State Government Establishes Committee To Review Peace Agreement Between Bandits And Local Communities

Katsina State Government, under the leadership of Governor Malam Dikko Umar Radda, has established a special committee to review the peace agreement reached between bandits and the communities in the security-challenged areas across the state.

The committee was established on Tuesday, October 28, 2025, under the supervision of the Secretary to the Katsina State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari, who presided over the committee's inauguration and the launch of its activities.

The committee, which will be chaired by the Katsina State Commissioner of Police, includes representatives from key security agencies and government departments. These include the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security, who will serve as the Committee's Secretary, as well as representatives from the 17 Brigade of the Nigerian Army, the 213 Forward Operation Base (FOB), the Nigeria Police Force, representatives from the Katsina State High Court, and other important agencies.

The primary objective of establishing the committee is to review the implementation of the peace agreement and to provide recommendations to the government on measures that will ensure the sustainability of the agreement and guarantee complete peace in the affected areas.

During the inauguration of the committee, the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari, explained that this step is part of Governor Radda's strategies to ensure security and sustainable peace in the state.

He said, "The Katsina Government will spare no effort in ensuring that sustainable peace is achieved in all areas. This committee will submit a comprehensive report within the next two weeks to facilitate appropriate next steps."

The committee will begin its work immediately, with visits to the most security-affected areas to gather first-hand information from the impacted communities.

So far, the state government has demonstrated its commitment to collaborating with security agencies and community leaders to ensure lasting peace throughout Katsina.
