Hamas Says It Agrees to Parts of Trump’s Gaza Plan but Seeks More Talks

Group Accepts Prisoner Exchange but Silent on Disarmament.

Hamas has announced that it accepts certain elements of former U.S. President Donald Trump’s proposed peace plan for Gaza, but insists that other key aspects require further negotiation before a comprehensive deal can be reached.

In its statement, Hamas said:

It is prepared to release all Israeli prisoners, both living and deceased, under a prisoner swap arrangement included in Trump’s proposal.

It would accept transferring certain governing responsibilities in Gaza to an independent technocratic body, to be formed through Palestinian consensus and supported by Arab and Muslim states

However, the statement avoided addressing one of the most sensitive issues, the disarmament of Hamas and its military wing, leaving ambiguity over how far the group is willing to go in scaling back its armed operations.

Hamas stressed that the future of Gaza and the rights of the Palestinian people should ultimately be decided through international consensus and Palestinian unity, not dictated by external actors.

Following Hamas’s response, Trump called on Israel to halt its bombing campaign in Gaza immediately in order to facilitate the release of prisoners in a secure environment.
