The October full moon will appear slightly larger and brighter as it nears Earth - a celestial spectacle not seen since late 2024.
The much-anticipated supermoon is scheduled for October 6–7, marking the first such event since November 2024. When a full moon aligns with its closest point to Earth in its orbit (perigee), it appears up to 14% larger and 30% brighter than usual.
Skywatchers around the world can view this lunar show without special equipment - just clear skies and a good vantage point. The October supermoon is the first of three expected in 2025, with others following in November and December.
