DAUDA ADAMU KAHUTU RARARA
The famous singer, Dauda Adamu Kahutu Rarara, who is originally from Katsina State and hails from Kahutu village in Danja Local Government Area of Katsina State, and who is renowned in the Hausa music scene, particularly for political songs, has succeeded in becoming the "King of Musicians of Hausaland". This follows the title conferred upon him today, Thursday, 25/09/2025, by the King of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk.
If you recall, a few days ago, videos and pictures of the singer at a university named the European-American University in Panama emerged, showing him receiving an honorary doctorate degree, which stirred debates on social media. Now, suddenly, he has been spotted today in Daura, at the palace of His Royal Highness, the King of Daura, Alhaji Faruk Umar Faruk, to receive the chieftaincy title bestowed upon him.
THE DAURA EMIRATE
The Daura Emirate is referred to as the "Mother of the Seven Legitimate Hausa States." This is because history shows that it was the first core city-state established among the seven original kingdoms. Furthermore, it was from Daura that the founding of other Hausa cities such as these originated:
1. Daura
2. Kano
3. Rano
4. Zazzau (Zaria)
5. Gobir
6. Katsina
7. Biram (Hadejia)
Therefore, all the kings of these emirates descend from the royal house of Daura.
Significant Historical Sites:
· Daura Corner: This is the site where Bayajidda is said to have killed the snake. It is a sacred place where festivals are held.
· Bayajidda's House: The house built on the site where Bayajidda lived, as described by some historians. It remains to this day within the city of Daura and has become a tourist attraction for visitors.
Chieftaincy: Daura has a traditional chieftaincy system. The head of the emirate is the King of Daura (Sarkin Daura), but traditionally he is addressed by a prestigious title. Today, the King of Daura is one of the senior kings in Katsina State and holds a highly respected position within the Hausa community.
Today: The Daura Emirate, although it no longer holds political power as it once did, continues to be a center of culture, religion, and social affairs for the people of Daura.
In summary, some scholars have described the Daura Emirate as the foundation and origin of the Hausa people, and its story of Bayajidda and the snake has become a narrative widely known as the origin of Daura's establishment across the world. However, many historians have disputed this claim.
