Nigeria's Independence Day: Nigerian Government Cancels National Parade

In a new move by the Nigerian government, it has decided that the 63rd independence anniversary celebration will be held at the Presidential Villa in Abuja, and not at the Eagle Square which is the usual venue.

President Tinubu's Address

During the event, President Bola Ahmed Tinubu addressed the citizens, where he outlined his government's key policies and programs for the development of Nigeria. His speech focused on the economy, security, and improving the lives of citizens.

Reason for Change of Venue

The government explained that the change of venue was necessary to reduce costs and minimize the hardship citizens face with traffic congestion during the celebration.

This action is different from what was previously practiced, where military and other security agencies' parades were usually held at the Eagle Square. This also allowed the celebration to be conducted peacefully, with reduced traffic congestion on major roads in Abuja.
