Sowore Faces DSS Over Alleged Defamation of Tinubu on X

Court to Hear Case on Alleged Publication of Malicious Content.

Sowore

The Department of State Services (DSS) has summoned journalist and activist Omoyele Sowore over allegations of defaming President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the social media platform X (formerly Twitter). This move follows an investigation into certain posts Sowore shared, which are alleged to contain defamatory content and potentially incite political unrest.

The court is expected to begin hearing the case next week, where both the defense and the government’s legal team will present their arguments. Political analysts have noted that this action demonstrates the government’s commitment to enforcing laws against the misuse of social media for spreading false information or attacking individuals’ reputations.
